Plant Hire FAQ's

HAE

You may well find cheaper elsewhere, but our intention is to run nearly-new machines with good specifications for your ease of use and comfort. Newer machines mean less breakdowns and downtime for you, the customer. Our Mini-Diggers all have Smart Tracking which reduces the chances of theft and other incidents. All of our machines up to 3.0 tonne have manual quick hitch, even the micro diggers. And anything 3.7 tonne and above have hydraulic quick hitch. What’s more, with JW Clark Mini Digger and Dumper hire, you will get the same customer service and experience that you get from our Grab Hire and Aggregates operations. That’s more important to us than being the cheapest around, we hope you’ll agree!

Not for a light scratch, no. But for deep scratches and damage to panels etc. then all repairs are invoiced to the hirer at cost. If you break something, please let us know asap so we can get parts ordered sooner rather than later.

If it was damaged in the course of using the machine, i.e. catching it on something, then the hirer is liable. If it is a worn hose or machine defect, then of course no charge to the hirer.

Not yet, but we intend to in the future.

We have a limited amount of ‘first drop’ slots available, so if you need it first thing please give as much notice as possible or ask for a delivery last thing the day before and we will always do our best. In any case, for local deliveries machines will normally be delivered by 9am.

Yes please, we will need you to sign documentation etc. Our delivery driver will do a 360 video of the machine having taken it off the low loader, and you and him will need to agree to the machine being undamaged, otherwise notes will be made of any damage on the machine.

Preferably leave the key with somebody on site or with your customer. Hide the key somewhere if you have to and let us know where it is, but the hirer is always responsible for security of the machine even after it has been off-hired, and until we collect.

We don’t expect it to look like new, but do what you can please, we’re sympathetic that you won’t often have the facilities to clean a machine on site. But please don’t leave it caked in an inch of mud all over. The inside of the machine needs to be clean please, and mud-free.

The hirer is liable, under their insurance. All customers must show Hired-In Plant Insurance before first hire, and once a year.

We operate under HAE Terms & Conditions. We’ve covered the most important bits here, but you’ll always get a copy when we deliver your machine(s) to site. And they are also on our website, please click here.

No. The law states that the operator must be ‘competent’, in our opinion the best way to know for sure that an operator is competent is to have had them assessed. We can point you in the right direction if required.

Give us a call and we will advise what to do next, we may need to come out and visit. Any costs incurred will always be passed to the hirer in this instance.

Not normally, no. But please feel free to ask, we’ll always do what we can.

The hirer is always responsible for punctures no matter how they happened. The cheapest option for the hirer is to arrange the repair themselves. For punctures in Northants we recommend JTS on 07801 387875. If you need us to arrange puncture repair, let us know and we will add cost to the final bill at the end.

Breakdowns are rare in our fleet of new machines, but if you lose more than a couple of hours, we’ll knock 20% off the weekly hire rate. But only if the hirer is not at fault in any way.

You can do if you wish but if you don’t then we’ll fill it up and add to the final bill, current price £1/litre plus 5% VAT. We sell red diesel should you need to buy from us throughout the hire, but collection only, and you’ll need to bring your own containers. We cannot deliver diesel.

Please be careful not to get any water in the diesel tank, damage as a result and time taken to rectify will be charged to the hirer. Do not use old containers that may contain even the slightest amount of water.

We cover Northants and surrounding counties, please enquire about cost of delivery outside areas 1 & 2 please.

Delivery and collection to Area 1 charged at £20 each way Delivery and collection to Area 2 charged at £35 each way Two items of plant, i.e. digger and dumper attract only one charge each way as long as they are ordered to be delivered together. For any items of plant 5 tonne and upwards add 50% to hire charges above.
